Hav Plenty
Except for his handsomeness, Chris Cherot, the writer-director-star of this sharply observant, slyly hilarious romantic memoir (due this summer from Miramax), is the unlikeliest of leading men. Spending a New Year's weekend with three women - an urban princess; her earthy, married younger sister; and a vampy best friend - the unemployed writer he plays is passively seduced, confused, repelled, entertained, and fed by them. In the end, he conquers all - including, surely audiences far beyond Sundance and the movie's upper-middle-class black milieu.
